Needs a new chair

Post by Bennett » Sun Mar 21, 2021 10:33 am

Like the title says, I need a new chair. Asking for recommendations from those of us who are a little bit larger, (height, dose that really matter, I don't actually know) and those with a dodgy back. Not bothered about a "gaming" chair. Got one, it's not amazing.
A really good office chair I'm thinking, Hell if I could take the seats out my car and turn that into an office chair I would.
Needs really good lumbar support, the more built in the better.
I'm thinking taller = better too.
Not bothered about RGB <-- that's a joke haha funny

Don't worry about price range just show me what you've got and I'll decide if I can afford it. Obviously not talking spending 1000's ( e.g https://www.brenthamfurniture.co.uk/st ... EALw_wcB ) but definitely willing to slap a few ton on one for orthopaedic and ergonomic reasons.

Thank you very much in advance. My back appreciates you're input.

I got mine from Office Outlet. It's really nice BUT they've gone bust. :-(

It's really difficult to recommend a good chair without sitting on them first. How about something like this though - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3127179. For back support, I use an old fashion cushion (nothing else beats it)!

I got this a few months ago for my 21st arse, and thus far it's still comfy, and showing no signs of strain. 5yr wty too, so should end up costing less than a cheaper chair over time; I don't think I've had any chairs last that long before.

Also, had a minor issue with my order when it arrived and they resolved it with no fuss, so the company seems decent too.

I got my chair from the old office of a friend when they renovated and there’s no brand/model name to be found. But, I’d suggest getting anything that has a butt & back support made from mesh. They’re super easy to clean and they pretty much won’t ever start to smell weirdly, plus you get great aeration and I find them really comfy.

I bought a new chair recently. The Kate from Ovvis, a dutch company.
It's a 'cheap' (400 quid) full mesh chair, so both seat and back are made of mesh material which is kinda chilly in the fall/winter but nice and comfy in summer.

To be fair, this thread will probably result in ME getting a new chair too! I never really considered mesh as a material before but it now appeals to me because I’m hot in the winter and boiler in the summer! Thanks @TicklishPicklewickle and @HonorOfDuty!

On the recommendation of Project Blue, being the larger lad whose opinion you seek, and having had the opportunity to sit in Age's chair and give it a try before buying, I opted for a Noblechairs hero black. The lumbar support has significant range, and comes with a cushion too, for options. Thus far I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Ah I found a little sticker underneath with the brand name, here's an update on my chair.
https://www.hermanmiller.com/products/s ... -2-chairs/
It's a US based company, but I'm 100% sure you'll find something similar from a company closer to you so that shipping and import fees don't double the price lol
