we had it on the alpha server long way back, its not a bad idea, very easy to setup, but of a download for all


if we thinking of how this goes to legacy I like it

Holy fuck, this is awesome. Would need a lot of tweaking for us but I like it. Need to find the files

Oh there's alot of good stuff here, feels like Christmas morning :), I think the C96 Carbine would be a nice secondary for a Sniper or DMR.

I've got their vpk file. When I unpacked it, it's 3,725 files. This may take me a little while to sort through!

I don't want to just drop their theaters & files onto our server
Everyone has everything
There are only 2 classes (unless you run the medic theatre)
It's a constant number of bots with no scaling depending on player numbers
Our server would probably struggle to cope with running this as it is

I believe it would make things rather unbalanced. I also want to look at the bot setup as I want to make sure it's balanced/ tilted towards the bots slightly.

This is going to take me a little while but I may get some time over xmas to look at it. I should be able to drop a beta onto my test lab by the time I get back to Qatar and have it on our servers early next year.

@hisdarkness in that way lies madness...trying to disect that many lines of code..I dont think its worth it, for a few secondaries, there are many other simpler weapons theater files our there, but a special madness of your own.

We used to use it fine on the alpha server no problems at all, it should run on ours no problems, but IMHO its defo overkill in everyway.

We should think about how this goes to legacy in 2018, and if sandstorm is any good will we be looking at getting a sandstorm server to replace this, we will need to wait I guess and see whats available..

I need to edit & use 8 of his 24 theaters then generate 6 small(ish) theaters.

This will give us
  1. a full set of balanced templates
  2. everything setup for coop
  3. smoke & knives
  4. 2ndries only
  5. a surprise
With a minimal theater of around 150-200 lines (I'll do a template) we could then add in other game modes, ie the different PvP modes.

I'm already part way through editing. Monday I'm going to have a LOT of time to kill so if I can find a power socket at the airport, I can potentially get the editing completed. I just need to modify current theaters in my dev folder then for the 6 small theaters though I know one will be a total bugger to get working again!

If im within my weight allowance, I can take my 2nd laptop home with me which means I'll have my dev lab with me and I can test to buggery, otherwise the testing will need to wait till i get back. I'm not testing on the live server as the potential to break things badly is very high!

I've tested a lot of these modded weapons before in game, will have to go through them again to pick out the best fitting ones, but a lot of new guns I feel would benefit the server. However these custom guns always tend to be stupidly overpowered so most servers I have used them on tend to have bots even tougher than ours. So I suggest if we are able to add in new weapons, taran take a look at increasing the bot difficulty or probably the better option, we nerf the custom guns slightly.
Oreo spelt backwards is still oroe :cookie:
