Are we losing our Identity?

Today I found out that Cadburys are being bought out by an American company. Cadburys is one of the only British things we have left that give us our Identity. The national dish is Chicken Tikka Masala, after some research I found that's Indian. Now I'm not racist at all. BUT this is silly. Terrys Chocolate that was ONCE british is now being made in some place in mainland Europe. HP brown sauce isn't even British anymore!!
What are your thoughts on this guys n gals, are the Engish really losing their (our) Identity?

errm, wasnt the masala actually invented in a curry house in either brum or glasgow? mainly say this as most indian currys are very mild. more like a korma than a phall or vindaloo.

you can't really say that. All most all foodproduct and object is made in a other country or parts from them cause its cheaper.

We are indeed, but then again, a lot of other countries are too. Theres nothing you can call entirely "British" anymore except our Armed Forces.

My five pence worth, cadbury's was all ready owned by Americans through the Schweeps merger, the only difference this time, is Krafts bad rep, although i read that Cadbury's many years ago bought out a rival british company, then promptly closed it down, so what goes around comes around.

This government does not care about manufacturing at all, it's more focused on the public sector.

The rapid decline of 'Britishness' and the refusal of the current 'british' government to do anything about it and even hasten the decline by selling out to europe lock, stock and barrel, without the promised referendum is one of the reasons I plan to leave this country when I leave the RAF in just over 2 years time.

I will have served 22 years by the time I leave and i've seen labour rape and cut back the arm forces whilst putting more and more work their way with no extra budget for vital equipment. The unwritten covenant between government and military has been cast aside by the government to the detriment of the troops ending up with people living in sub standard housing/accomodation, having to wait for vital repairs and upgrades to their houses to make them livable, a reduction in the medical services available for injured troops (closed 3 military hospitals in the last 10 years) and the main rehab unit for injured troops is now being run/expanded from voluntary contributions, not the bloody government budget.

I could go on a lot more but i'm too knackered as i'm currently doing 2 jobs in work to cover for the shortfall in people as everyone is deploying out of area at the moment or on courses needed to go out of area (I go in apr)
