Was gonna say, I've got the same set up running at 4.7 and get temps running at 40-50 with the same cooler.

@irazori, what voltage you running it at? Considering the de8auer delidding tool and some Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal to be honest.

I would have to do it in such a way the fiance doesn't realise I'm actually forcing the lid off a £330 CPU and voiding the warranty.

You shouldn't have to delid it to get better temps unless it is an extreme case. A lot of other things to check before getting there. Thermal paste I am talking about is the one you apply between the CPU and the pump. Problem is, heat your CPU is putting out isn't being sunk into the cooler. It can be 3 things, thermal paste, your application or faulty pump. Most likely is the first two. If you at all lifted the cooler after placing it, there are air bubbles and can mean 5 6 degrees difference on maximum temps at least.

Basically, there should be a very gradual increase if it was voltage or clock speeds. I am talking about an increase that's distributed to 20 or even 30 minutes on a regular load. Even then, it is almost impossible to get to 70s considering the thermal capacity of a dual 140 radiator unless you push it to 5 or 5.2ghz with fans on VERY low. Check water temps to be sure.

I will check the seating of the AIO as that's where my suspicions are; I need to rebuild my rig in a week or two anyway because I'm doing a paint job on it and sleeving a few cables - balancing those four bolts was guesswork to be honest. My 2019 rig is going to be fully water cooled I think, so much simpler and easy to see if stuff isn't working.
