EMAIL Client

Post by Hutch1603 » Tue Mar 10, 2020 7:59 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good email client. I currently use outlook, but it is rubbish at stopping junk/spam email. It has also now decided to say that it is not activated and I only have 4 days left.

Looking for something better that can do a better job of stop the crud getting to the inbox.

Thunderbird still gets updated and I free and open source. Can work with add-ins, just like FireFox.
Stopping spam is both client and provider side so it might not only be outlook that's poor in stopping spam. Maybe your providers spam filters are suboptimal.

I'm a bit Microsoft fan, however, I also use Bitdefender which has it's own Anti-Spam filter. Who actually hosts your email? Is that Microsoft too?

Outlooks junk learning only really works properly when it's connected to an exchange server.
Thunderbird or evolution are good alternatives and if you mark the crap as junk, they learn reasonably well over time

Thanks guys. Might go back to thunderbird. Used it a while ago and it always seemed alright.

Who hosts your email? Is it Microsoft, Yahoo, Google or other?

@Zelous, been using MS Office for my email client, but it's rubbish at blocking junk/spam email.

But who hosts it? Outlook on its own won’t help unless it’s a Microsoft account (Hotmail.com, live.com, outlook.com etc.)

I can confirm, I used thunderbird for years, go to the settings, enable adaptive junk filters, start to mark shit as junk, enjoy. Take a look to the junk from time to time to ensure that things that look like junk are junk or not.
